Saint Paul Catholic School
St. Paul Catholic School - Friday Memos

Dear St. Paul Families,

We have had a blessed few weeks at St. Paul School. I have some updates for you:

1. Parent Prayer Groups:  This year we will begin two parent prayer groups.  Once will be a weekly prayer group/Bible study in both English and Spanish every Friday from 7:45 a.m.-8:15 a.m. in the Parish Hall before our 8:15 School Mass.  The other prayer group will be a monthly morning prayer meeting for parents.  Many of out families are really struggling with various difficulties -- sickness, death, family turmoil, etc. -- and we can lift them up to the Lord in prayer and also bring to Him all of out students, school/parish families, and those who are suffering from the recent natural disasters in our world.  More details will be coming soon about this group. All are welcome to both prayer groups.

2. Curriculum: This year begins out third year with the Wonders Reading Program (grades 1-6), and we have been working with Dr. Lee, a reading specialist from Christian Brothers University, to implement the program to best suite our students' needs.  Dr. Lee is helping us to bridge the gap between the old and new reading programs to ensure student success.  I am confident that this program will enhance our students' critical thinking skills, writing skills, and comprehension.  I am grateful to my predecessor, Sr. Mary Martha, and the teachers for their hard worl in beginning the implementation of this new program.

3. Morning Drop-off and Afternoon pick-up:  A teacher will be on duty each mornig from 7:15 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. to supervise the K-6 drop-off-line which is outlined by the cones next to the cafeteria.  All K-6 students should be dropped off at this line (unless the child has a Pre-K sibling).  Your may also park in the big parking lot next to the Church and walk your K-6 child into the gym, if you prefer.  We lock the gym doors at 8:00 a.m.; after 8:00 a.m., please bring your child to the front office to check in. Daily attendance and coming to school on time are crucial aspects of your child's success. All Pre-K parents should part in a parking space next to the Pre-K gate and walk your child into the Pre-K entrance. Please do not park directly in front of our cafeteria or in any space that is not clearly outlined as a parking space. Being present in class the enitre day is important for each child's academic success. If for an urgent reason you need to check out your child, please remeber that you may not check your child out after 2:15 p.m. Thanks you.

Be assured of my prayers for you every day.  I am grategul for the opportunity to serce this beautiful school community. God bless you!

In Christ,

Sister Mary Lawrence, O.P.
